Former Osun State governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola has said Nyesom Wike is not his leader within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory as his boy, according to TheCable.
Oyinlola's remark was reported on Thursday, 5 November 2026, and was carried by several Nigerian outlets, including Punch Newspapers, Daily Post Nigeria and Vanguard News. The former governor stressed that he remains a PDP member even though he does not accept Wike as his leader in the party.
The comment adds another public dimension to the internal wrangling within the PDP. In a separate report cited in the same coverage, Oyinlola said too many forces are working against the party's unity, according to Nigerian Voice.
Wike's position in the party has been a recurring subject of friction, and Oyinlola's choice of words — calling the minister his boy — signals a personal and political hierarchy that he is not willing to set aside.
It remains to be seen whether Oyinlola's remarks draw a response from Wike's camp or from PDP leadership, and whether they shift the wider conversation about who speaks for the party.
